If you are 100% satisfied with everything as-is, you can just gamble on the $20 difference between buying buying before July 1 or after. The price is so low that IMO even if there is a chance you think you will want to continue using them as time goes on, it's worth it. If you want access to support or future improvements though, you will need to pay. If the free version works fine for you, that means you don't use the specific things that caused crashes or bugs - if that is the case, no need to upgrade. I’m happy with my Nik suite, runs well for what I use it for, I see no advantage for me to upgrade as nothing will change. Right now if the suite works for you, you are basically just giving them money with no value in return. Who says you won’t have to pay $70 later for a release with some added features. At the same time, if they will be sticking with minor releases for a while I'd rather pay $50 now than $70 later. especially since the free version still works fine for me. I'd hate to spend $50 now on a bug fix release, only to have them to a major release with new features a month from now. I am a little nervous about the lack of a roadmap - especially since the purchase price doesn't give you access to future releases. I'm willing to support them in ongoing development.
